Applies to: ViewSonic Manager Backup and Restore

Use the Backup and Restore option in Manager Settings to create a restore point of your entity's device list, groups, Jobs, and Advanced license assignments, then load that restore point later if you need to revert to a previous state. Restore points can be created manually or on a schedule, and how many you can keep depends on your license.

Before you begin

You need a Manager admin account with permission to manage Backup and Restore.

Create a restore point

To back up your current Manager settings:

  1. Click Settings on the top toolbar of the Manager console.

  2. Click Backup and Restore from the dropdown.

  3. To create a restore point manually, click Create, then click Yes to confirm.

  4. To create restore points automatically instead, toggle Scheduling on, click Edit, set a schedule, then click Confirm.

Restore from a restore point

To revert your Manager settings to a previous restore point:

  1. Click Settings on the top toolbar, then click Backup and Restore from the dropdown.

  2. Under Date and Time, hover over the restore point you want to use.

  3. Click the load icon, then click Yes to confirm restoring the system to that point.

Additional notes

Some additional points that may be useful:

  • A restore point backs up the device list, groups, Jobs, and Advanced license assignments — it does not back up every Manager setting.

  • Manager Basic allows 1 restore point; Manager Advanced allows up to 10. If there are no empty slots, the oldest unlocked restore point is overwritten by a new one.

  • Lock a restore point to prevent it from being overwritten.

  • Removing a restore point cannot be undone.

Need more help

If a restore point fails to create, or a restore does not apply as expected, contact ViewSonic Support with the date and time of the restore point in question.
