Applies to: ViewSonic Manager groups

You can organize enrolled devices into groups in ViewSonic Manager so you can send commands to multiple devices at once instead of one at a time. Groups are created and managed from the Devices page, and devices can be added to a group during enrollment or afterward from the Device list.

Before you begin

You need Manager admin access to create and manage groups. It is helpful to plan your grouping logic first — for example by location, department, or device model — so devices are easy to find later.

Create a group

To create a new group:

  1. Click the Menu to open the side panel, then click Devices.

  2. Click the All Devices tab.

  3. Click the Groups dropdown.

  4. Click Create Group at the bottom of the dropdown.

  5. Type a unique name for the group and click OK.

To create a subgroup under an existing group, open the Groups dropdown, navigate into the parent group, then click Create Group inside that directory. Actions applied to a parent group also apply to its subgroups.

Rename or delete a group

Open the Groups dropdown and use the context menu next to a group to rename it or delete it. Deleting a group removes the group itself, but does not remove the devices that were inside it.

Add devices to a group

  1. Click the Menu to open the side panel, then click Devices.

  2. Click the All Devices tab.

  3. Select the checkbox for the devices you want to add to a group.

  4. Click the Add to icon to open the Add to Group dialog.

  5. Select the group (or navigate into a subgroup), then click Add.

Send actions to one selected group

To limit the Device list to a single group before sending commands:

  1. Click the Menu to open the side panel, then click Devices.

  2. Click the All Devices tab.

  3. Click the Groups dropdown and select the checkbox for the group you want — you can only select one group at a time.

  4. Click outside the dropdown; the Device list updates to show only that group's devices.

  5. Select one or more devices, then choose the action to send from the side panel.

Additional notes

Some additional points that may be useful:

  • An action sent to a group only takes effect on devices that support it — unsupported devices in the group ignore the command.

  • Use the search field in the Groups dropdown to quickly find a group by name when your group list grows large.

  • To confirm whether a specific device supports a command before sending it to a group, check the Manager device capability chart.

Need more help

If a group action does not reach all expected devices, verify the devices are online and check the capability chart for support, then contact ViewSonic Support with the group name and the action you attempted.
