Applies to: ViewSonic Manager remote commands

ViewSonic Manager lets admins send remote-control commands to enrolled devices, such as adjusting volume, powering devices off, restarting, and switching input source. A larger set of commands is available with the side panel on the Devices page, and some commands only work if the target device has a Manager Advanced license applied and supports that feature.

Basic commands

The following commands are available to Manager admins without an Advanced license, from the side panel on the Devices page:

  • Adjust volume

  • Adjust screen brightness (backlight) level

  • Power off

  • Restart

  • Change input source, including editing or removing an input source alias

  • Turn a screen on or off

  • Screen lock/unlock

  • Add or manage a Wi-Fi SSID on the device

  • Allow or forbid installation of unknown apps

  • Update firmware and set up auto firmware update

  • Factory reset

Commands that require Manager Advanced

A smaller set of commands is only available on devices that have a Manager Advanced license applied, such as configuring Standby Mode, Settings Lock, Startup Input Mode, and ViewBoard Cast settings. Manager Advanced also unlocks Jobs, Profiles, and Remote Desktop, which are not sent from the basic command list.

Additional notes

Some additional points that may be useful:

  • Not every command is supported on every device model — always check the Manager device capability chart if a command does not appear or does not take effect.

  • Whether a command is available also depends on the permissions assigned to your Manager user account.

  • Most commands take effect immediately, but some require the device to be online and may need a restart to apply.

Need more help

If a command does not appear for a device you expect to manage, or a command fails to apply, contact ViewSonic Support with the device model, firmware version, and the exact command you attempted.
