Applies to: ViewSonic Manager firmware update

From the side panel on the Devices page, use the Update Firmware command to check for and apply a firmware update immediately, or set up Auto Firmware Update so devices update automatically the next time they are online and a new firmware version is available. Sending a firmware update triggers an automatic restart on the target devices.

Before you begin

You need a Manager admin account with permission to send firmware commands, and the target devices must be online to receive the update.

Update firmware now

To trigger a firmware update immediately:

  1. Click the Menu to open the side panel.

  2. Click Devices, then click the All Devices tab.

  3. On the device list, click the checkbox for the devices you want to update. A side panel appears on the right.

  4. Scroll to Update Firmware and expand the section.

  5. Click Update now to check for and apply the latest firmware from ViewSonic's OTA servers, or click Update from external source to apply a firmware image from a URL you provide.

  6. Click Confirm to send the command.

Set up automatic firmware updates

To have devices check for and apply new firmware automatically instead of updating on demand:

  1. Follow the same steps above to open the side panel for the selected devices.

  2. Scroll to Auto Firmware Update and expand the section.

  3. Turn the setting on and specify a time for Manager to check for and apply new firmware when it becomes available and the device is online.

  4. Click Confirm to save the setting.

Additional notes

Some additional points that may be useful:

  • A firmware update triggers an automatic force-restart on the target devices. Send the command only when you are sure the devices will not be in use.

  • After sending a firmware update, verify on the target devices that the update was applied successfully.

  • Firmware update support can vary by device model — check the Manager device capability chart if the command is unavailable for a device.

Need more help

If a firmware update fails to apply or a device does not restart as expected, contact ViewSonic Support with the device name and the firmware version it was on before the update.
