Applies to: ViewSonic Manager factory reset
Select a single device on the Devices page, open the Factory Reset option in the side panel, and type the device name exactly as it appears to confirm the reset. This action restores the device to its factory defaults, triggers an automatic restart, and cannot be undone, so send it only when you are certain about the target device.
Before you begin
Factory Reset can only be sent to one device at a time and will be unavailable if more than one device is selected. Double-check that you have the correct device selected before starting, since this action is irreversible.
Perform a factory reset
To send a Factory Reset command to a device:
Click the Menu to open the side panel.
Click Devices, then click the All Devices tab.
On the device list, click the checkbox of the single device you want to reset. A side panel appears on the right.
Scroll to Factory Reset and click the icon to expand the section.
Type the device name exactly as it appears in the device list column.
Click Confirm to send the command.
After the command is sent, the device restarts automatically and returns to its factory default state. Once reset, the device will need to be re-enrolled in Manager before it can be managed again.
Additional notes
Some additional points that may be useful:
This action cannot be undone. Double-check that you are sending the command to the correct device before confirming.
Factory Reset triggers an automatic force-restart on the target device. Send this action only if you are sure the device will not be in use.
If the Factory Reset option does not appear for a device, check whether the device supports the feature on the Manager device capability chart.
The target device does not need a Manager Advanced license to receive this command. Whether a user can send it is controlled separately, through the Advanced remote control commands permission on the Permissions screen — an Entity Owner or Admin must turn this permission on for a user before that user can send a Factory Reset (or other sensitive commands in that group).
Need more help
If a device does not respond after a factory reset, or you need help re-enrolling it in Manager, contact ViewSonic Support with the device name and the approximate time the reset was sent.
